McAllen is the largest city in Hidalgo County, Texas.  Its southern boundary is located about five miles from the US – Mexico border and the Mexican city of Reynosa, the Rio Grande.  It is just west of the Gulf of Mexico.  The 2010 census put the city’s population at 129,877.  The area was largely rural in character dependent on agriculture for much of its history.  In the twentieth century it has had steady growth.  McAllen’s Medicare spending per capita has attracted national scrutiny due to a sharp increase from a national average to a near national high by 2006.  The median income for a household was $33,641 and the median income for a family was $36,050.  About 20.9% of families and 23.8% of the population were below the poverty line.  McAllen does have a drug problem.  There is a need for McAllen drug rehabs.

In April of 2012, the US Border patrol agents working in the Rio Grande Valley seized over five tons of marijuana.  It seems there were several men that were loading bundles of the narcotics into a truck and then the agents approached them and arrested them. A few days later agents went to an accident scene and they found bundles of drugs in the backseat.  The driver took off and was later caught.  900 pounds of marijuana were seized.  All total the drugs had an estimated street value at $8.2 million.  Job well done; many drugs off the streets.  Drugs are a big problem in McAllen.  Get help finding McAllen drug rehabs.  Something can be done about it.
